Adaptive Music-Making Interface for the Visually Impaired
PanMuse created an interactive music-making installation with an adaptive interface designed to be accessible to the blind and visually impaired. It is the centerpiece of the Curiosity Corner, a resource center for the visually impaired within the library of Jefferson Middle School, a magnet school for VI students within the Albuquerque Public School system. Adaptive features include 2-D keyboards of distinct touch sensors for playing melodies, tactile navigational guides, audio display of parameter changes, and a spatial layout that makes it easy to locate and distinguish different categories of controls using touch.
